About Me:
Erika Faith Hattingh is a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher, Yoga Instructor Trainer (E-R.Y.T. 500), and a certified advanced practitioner through the White Lotus Foundation. She currently teaches Ashtanga-based vinyasa and trantrik-style yoga classes around the beach cities of Southern California (Los Angeles & Orange County). She leads international and local retreats, facilitates yoga workshops and is the founder of THE SURFIN YOGIS, a surf and yoga club based in Redondo Beach; now expanding to Bolsa Chica and San Onofre.
Erika playfully works with yoga postures as a moving meditation, uses pranic breathing with internal visualizations, enjoys vocal affirmation/release and spiritually uplifting poetry. She uses these modalities to facilitate a true yoga journey into the heart of being
human. Her teaching style includes the use of thai yoga massage, partner work, soft hands-on adjustments, aromatherapy and energy work to open each student energetically and ecstatically.
For over twelve years, Erika has worked with many people; old, young and in-between. She helps those with cancer, addiction, mental illness, and other physical traumas. Her goal is to get to know student and learn about their story, so together they can find what works. Erika guides each person to their own flexibility, healing, courage, wisdom, faith, and strength.
Erika received her degree in Transpersonal Psychology from Sonoma State Univerisity in 1997 where she studied holistic forms of mental health such as Yoga, Horticultural Therapy, Dream Analysis, and Art Therapy. Since then, she has been teaching and continuing her education in the fields of yoga, ecology and the healing arts.
Erika spent nearly seven years as a lecturer at California State University, Fullerton where she taught Basic & Intermediate Yoga courses as well as a Yoga Instructor Preparation Course through the Division of Kinesiology. She now joyfully teaches for the Yoga Works family of Orange County where she encourages students to break away from the everyday grind and find their “deeply satisfied no matter what” self inside.
